DOGSLED & AIRPLANE
£65.00 GBP
This hand-crafted linocut scales-up the 1931 15c Newfoundland postage stamp Dogsled & Airplane, designed by J. Scott & A. B. Perlin and engraved by A. J. Downey, depicting the era's only reliable delivery methods to the remote landscapes of northern Canada.
Each of the series' stamps have been meticulously captured and reinterpreted through carved linoleum, hand-printed onto Japanese Shoji paper, which mimics the delicate nature and gently woven texture of many historic stamps, and loosely single-edge mounted onto a heavier paper stock, ready for framing. Some details may be lost, some may be found, but each comes with a new appreciation for this craft.
